Daughters
of the American Revolution supports six schools for underprivileged
youth with annual donations exceeding $1,000,000.00. Our
members donated more than 170,000 hours last year in the promotion of
literacy among adults and children. DAR
awards over $150,000.00 in scholarships and financial aid every year. |

DAR
members provide more than 55,000 hours of volunteer time to veterans
annually. We are a founding partner of the Veterans History Project of
the Library of Congress and one of the largest groups serving on the
Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service Advisory Board and Executive
Committee. |

The
Daughters of the American Revolution provides thousands of American
flags and Flag Code booklets to schools, government bodies, civic
organizations and new naturalized citizens each year. DAR's
Junior American Citizens committee fosters good citizenship and the
study of civics and American History in grades K-12. Good
Citizens Awards are presented to outstanding high school seniors for
contributions to their schools and communities; and Good Citizenship
Medals are awarded to children in grades 5-11 for service, leadership,
and patriotism. |

DAR
members contribute time and money to restore and maintain historic
sites across the country. $200,000.00
was contributed to the restoration of Independence Hall in Philadelphia
and $750,000.00 was contributed to restore the Statue of Liberty and
Ellis Island in New York City. The
DAR Museum in Washington, D.C. houses over 30,000 historical artifacts,
which showcase the fine and decorative arts in America from 1700 to
1850. |
